THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION by J W LUMAN PART ONE Turn with me to Hebrews the tenth chapter, verse 7. This is in our study of Mt. Zion. YE ARE COME TO MT. ZION. Our theme is found in Hebrews the twelfth chapter and we are centering our search there in regard to "YE ARE COME". What we have as believers come to in Christ Jesus. The thing the Lord is dealing with us about is that there's a whole lot more to Salvation than just coming out from something. Thank God we have come into something. YE ARE COME. So, Hebrews 12 from verse 18 down to about verse 20-22 declares that which we are not come to, but there is that which we have come to. Ye are not come to this and that, but ye are come to Mt. Zion. And so we are dealing with the truth of being brought in Christ ... and how many of you know that we are in Christ? Over and over the New Testament testifies to the truth that ye are IN CHRIST - either in Whom, in Him, in the Beloved, in Christ. Amen. But that position, that reality is testified to - that you are in Christ. Well, thank God. In Christ you have come to something. And in the Bible, ZION, the term Zion is used throughout the Old Testament, and in the New Testament also, that term Zion is used to describe what we have come to in Christ Jesus. Now I've made mention before, we know what we've come out of. We understand that, at least we think we do, but very few of us beloved, have a comprehension. I'm not talking about a mental thing, but a spiritual apprehension. Very few of us have laid hold upon by faith, in the Spirit, and made it a reality in our lives. Very few of us have apprehended the thing for which we have been apprehended of God. Very few of us have come to the understanding of all that Zion signifies in Christ. And it is this that the Holy Spirit would bring us to. Not only having brought us to Zion, but as the emphasis is, that we would begin to ascend into the very top of the mount of God. This mount that is the dwelling place of God; this mount that is the place of the very voice of God; this mount that is where God reveals Himself to those that seek Him! YOU ARE COME TO SUCH A PLACE! You are come to such a spiritual place, to such a spiritual condition. You are come to such a relationship in Christ Jesus, and Zion is the significance of all that you have come to. The scriptures say "For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily, and ye are complete in Him". YE HAVE COME TO THE COMPLETE WORK OF GOD IN CHRIST! But very few of us have apprehended that. Many of us have apprehended much of the total work of Satan; we gave ourself to it, we served it, we apprehended it. We plumbed it - not to the height, but to the depth of it, we walked it out. But the only thing we've apprehended about our Salvation is that we just don't do those things any more; we're just out from something. But oh Beloved, there is a greater Salvation than there ever was sin. The greatness of Salvation is not measured by sin. The greatness of Salvation is measured by the fulness of Jesus Christ! Hallelujah! The New Creation far outshines the old. Full Salvation goes far beyond the work of sin. It's not that we're just brought out - no sir, we're brought in, and now we are to ascend to the top of the mount! Hallelujah! Paul says it this way, I pray that you might comprehend what is the length and the depth and the height and the width, the full measure of God IN Christ Jesus; that you may apprehend all of this glorious fulness for which you have been apprehended of God. In other words it is God's absolute purpose in saving you to bring you into the fulness of Jesus Christ, or else there's no real purpose in Salvation at all. Because the real purpose of Salvation was never to get you out of hell, never to get you out of sin - not the purpose. That was the means and the method. The purpose was to get you in Christ. The purpose was to bring you to Mt. Zion, and the purpose of coming to Mt. Zion is not to camp around the foot of it. Israel camped around the foot of Zion, but Paul says in Hebrews 12 - not as that - no - the purpose is not to camp around the foot of it. The purpose is to ascend to the very top of the mount - to the very top and live in the very presence of the Voice of the Almighty God! Well, we are come to that. And I so want the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ to be awakened to all that we've come to in Christ Jesus. Not just awakened to the fact that we're no longer sinners, but awakened to the reality of being IN CHRIST, and all that this involves. Awakened to the reality that God is now our Father and all that that involves. Ascend to the very top of the mountain. Well, in our study together - verse 7 of Hebrews Chapter 10. "Then said I, Lo I come, in the volume of the book it is written of me, to do thy will, O God." Look at verse 9, "Then he said, Lo I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first that he may establish the second. By which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." What a tremendous thing this is. I hope we have come to see this, because this is the work of God in Zion - TO TAKE AWAY THE FIRST AND ESTABLISH THE SECOND. All right, let's look at it. I Corinthians the fifteenth chapter. Now I hope that you are progressing further in the Spirit than I am in words, because I'm not covering a lot of territory. But the Spirit of God - Oh, my! He desires to do an unlimited work in us. I'm so glad that the work of the Spirit is not governed by the volume of words, aren't you? I'm glad that the work of the Spirit doesn't stop when I quit talking. Amen! And if my words are not lining up with what He is already doing, then they are not worth saying anyway. If my words are not just confirming His Word, then my words don't mean anything. God grant that we see a work of the Spirit in us. Verse 45, "And so it is written, the first man, Adam was made a living soul. The last Adam was made a quickening (a life giving) spirit." The first man, Adam. Lord help me to say this right. The first man was a they. Look at it in Genesis. He called their name Adam. "He made them male and female, created he them, and he called their name Adam." Do you understand that? I'm not telling you there wasn't an Adam and an Eve. Don't misunderstand me. But God gathered the whole creation up into one mankind, one name, and he called them, both male and female - he called them, Adam. What does that mean? It means that the whole human race is gathered up in one man - Adam - whether you're male or female, whether you're bond or free, whether you're Jew or Gentile - whatever - because Adam has always been a "they". Adam has never been singular. Adam has always been a male and a female. Now that ought to tell us something, and if you're running ahead of me in the scriptures you'll see where I'm going. Because the New Creature is NOT so. Adam has always been divided. Yes, there's always been a distinction in Adam, and there always will be. You're never going to bring unity dealing with the first creation. The first. Have you forgotten our point already - TO TAKE AWAY THE FIRST - not to retain it, not to teach it how to get along, not to make good citizens out of it - but to take it away - to do away with it! And in its place, ESTABLISH THE SECOND! An altogether other than Adam. Ye are come to that place! Ye are come to Mt. Zion! But we still act like we're part of the first. We think God redeemed the first. No he didn't - HE CRUCIFIED THE FIRST! The work of the cross. The cross is not just a stick of wood that is 2000 years old. The cross is in the beginning with God. The cross is in the heart of God from the beginning. Jesus is a lamb slain before the foundation of the world. The cross is the power of God. The cross is the wisdom of God. The cross is the center of the theology of God. You take away the cross and you have no gospel left. You take away the cross and you have no truth left. You take away the cross and you have completely left the eternal plan of God. THE CROSS. "I come to do thy will O God." That's Jesus speaking. That's the Son speaking. I come to do thy will, O God. The volume of the book speaks of me. Not just one or two verses, and I come to do thy will. TO TAKE AWAY THE FIRST AND ESTABLISH THE SECOND. Where did He take away the first? At the CROSS! Where did He establish the second? IN MT. ZION! We're going to see that. But who is this first? The first man, Adam, see it - all of the J W Lumans of the world, they are included in Adam. All of the divisions of mankind, they are included in Adam. Everything that makes you and I different is included in Adam. Every wall of division is all included in Adam. And I'm telling you, we're wasting all our time trying to reform Adam. Now folks, we're never going to teach Adam how to love each other. Never - just give up on it. Forget it, because you're never going to teach Adam how to be righteous, how to be holy, how to do anything. And there's no love in Adam except self love - that's all there is there. And all the rest of it is just a lie. But you see, here we fail to understand that the first principle of Zion - we're talking about this crisis of Zion - what happens when you begin to ascend to the top of Zion? You face a crisis! You begin to understand that the old is no more and the NEW IS NOW COME! To take away the first and to establish the second - that's the purpose of Zion. Zion is to be the manifestation of the second in the earth. And the first is not something that is strange to us. The first is everything that you and I are in the flesh. Now do you want me to get graphic with that? In the flesh I'm male. In the flesh I'm a U.S. citizen. In the flesh I'm born in Texas. In the flesh I'm white. You see that. Now immediately those things that I've just mentioned has put me at distinct odds with most everybody in this building. How many of you were born in Texas? How many of you have the name LUMAN? How many of you have an ancestor called Dutch Luman? See what I'm talking about? These things that I am in the flesh have immediately set up a barrier. And you and I can say that it's not there if we want to, but it's there, and in the midst of a great crisis, you and I will both know it's there. About the best we can do in our wall is make a door in it. And Jesus said, "I'm not come to make doors, I AM THE DOOR. I'm come to tear down the walls. I'm come to do away with the walls." I'm come to do away with the first - good of it, bad of it, big of it, little of it, male of it, female of it, bond of it, free of it, Jew of it, Gentile of it - all of it I am come to do away with it. And where He did that is at the cross. THE LAST ADAM. That means there isn't any more Adam, there isn't any more. He ended the thing at the cross. And if you have come by way of the cross, you have come by way of the death of Adam. And now you are come to a new and a living way. You are now come to a New Creature, to a New Creation, you are come to Mt. Zion! Glory to God! You know what the problem is in the Church today? The problem is YOU AND ME. If you and I are removed, the problem disappears. But we can spend a lifetime trying to learn to get along. We can spend a lifetime at the peace table, the conference table - me making a confession, you making a confession, me making a compromise, you making a compromise. And pretty soon we come away wringing our hands, and about all we've agreed to do is disagree. And God help, in some of the ecclesiastical circles of the Church, that's what unity is called - an agreement to disagree, and still love each other. Isn't that pitiful? You have not come to that, beloved. It's not that that God has brought you to. You could have had that under the Old Testament regime and religion. He hasn't brought you to a conference table. He hasn't brought you to an agreement to disagree. No, not at all. He has brought you to an altogether NEW, but He has brought you there through the cross. He can NOT establish the second until He takes away the first. It can not be me and Jesus - it has to be just Jesus! Hallelujah! I am crucified, see that. I AM CRUCIFIED, nevertheless I live, yet, not I, CHRIST LIVETH IN ME. Not me and Christ - JUST CHRIST! And He is neither Jew nor Greek. He is neither male nor female. He is neither bond nor free. Oh, Thank God, He is a New Man, a New Creature. As long as we are identified with a creation that started out plural, we're never going to understand what it means to be one. And I'm just trying to tell you that Adam started out as two people. Adam started out plural. Adam started out as a "they". Adam started out as a distinction. But, thank God, the New Man in Christ Jesus is just one - CHRIST ALL AND IN ALL. So we have come to a great divide. This is what I want you to see. The book of Hebrews has brought us to a divide. The whole book of Hebrews, it starts out that way. We have come to a divide, a division. What did I read here a while ago concerning being sanctified? But let's continue now in I Corinthians 15 verse 45 and go on down. "However, that was not first which is spiritual." The spiritual is not the first and the first is not spiritual. If your first birth had been spiritual, you wouldn't need to be "born again". Well, what happened? Did we just get cleaned up or did we get born again? Did we just get forgiven or did we get born again? You see forgiveness is all wrapped up in the fact that God, by His Son, enabled a new birth to come upon the scene. We are not just a bunch of forgiven sinners. We're not just a bunch of forgiven Adamites. "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation." He is a New Creature. Old things are not only forgiven, God love you, they are passed away! And all things are become NEW. Oh, see the mount that God has brought you to - not Sinai, not the old system, not the old sacrifices, not the old priesthood, not the old way of talking to you, not the old - no - none of that, but a new nation, a new Israel, a new people, a new priesthood, a new creation. YE ARE COME TO MT. ZION! And in bringing you there, He has divided you, separated you, sanctified you unto Himself - from all that is old. But you see, because we will not ascend the mount... we want to think of ourself on one hand being saved, but on the other hand, we want to visualize ourselves as still very much the old creation. See there is a certain way I want to be treated. Most of the time based upon my identity in the old creation. There are certain "rights" that I have, but most of the time I'm basing them upon the old creation. Yet I want to claim Salvation, but I want my identity here in Adam. No wonder Paul said, 'For ye see your calling, brethren, how that none of you were called based upon your Adamic identification. None of you are called because of your greatness. None of you are called because of your riches. None of you are called because of your nationality. None of this. None of this is found in Christ! That no flesh shall glory in His presence! We're not dealing with a saved Adam here. We're dealing with a crucified Adam and a resurrected Christ! A resurrected Christ in whom NONE of the old is found - not the sin of it and not the person of it either. He brought everything of the old together in Himself and then He put it to death upon the cross and He came forth victorious in resurrection. And we have been brought forth in Him! A New Creation! Well here it is right here, verse 47, "The first man is of the earth, earthy." Please understand believer friend, that's all he's ever going to be. Now I mean this - I don't care how many churches he belongs to, I don't care how many services he goes to, I don't care how educated he is and how many degrees he has at the end of his name, I don't care how many pairs of hands have been laid upon him, I don't care how many people have prophesied over him - the first man is earthy, he's after the earth, and that's all he's ever going to be. And ye are not come to that which is earthy. Ye are not come to that mount which is made out of dirt. Ye are not come to that administration that is of men. Ye are not come to Sinai. Ye are not come to that. Ye are come to a place where the first is done away and the second is brought into view and established. Who is the second? Read it here. The first is after the earth, earthy, THE SECOND MAN IS THE LORD FROM HEAVEN! Hallelujah to God! And you are in Him. It is His Body that you are. Let this begin to sink into you. You are not a saved old man. You are a crucified old man. The old man is crucified and the New Man is Christ Himself! You are the Body of the Resurrected Christ! You are not a bunch of resurrected bodies, but you are the dwelling place of the Risen Christ. You are His Body, you are His flesh. Read it in Ephesians 5 - "bone of his bone, flesh of his flesh." He that is joint unto the Lord is one spirit. Ye are His Body. Know ye not that you are His Body? You are the Body of the Resurrection! Jesus never said I am resurrected. He said I AM THE RESURRECTION. And He is not some disembodied spirit. He lives in His Body through His Eternal Spirit. He lives in you. You are that Body of Christ. But you can't be the Body of Christ and the body of Adam at the same time. I can't claim to be the Body of Christ and then bring in some segment of Adam and say but I'm also this. NO, no, not in reality, not in truth. I don't care what your eyes see, not in truth. "And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." Oh, no wonder Paul says we no longer know any man after the flesh - that means their name, their education, their background, whether they are male or female, what color they are. We know no man after the flesh. We know not Christ any more after the flesh. Oh beloved, the first is done away at Mt. Zion and the second is established, and the second is the Lord from heaven. We don't need more board meetings, WE NEED A REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST. We need a revelation of Jesus Christ. I need to go to the top of the mountain and see the New Creature that I'm part of. I need to, in my heart, have the old man - all of him, every part of him, reckoned as a dead thing, a buried thing, a done away thing. I need to know Christ in the power of His resurrection. And I need to know you in that same power. So we're come to a great divide here in this book - the division of the old from the new, the division of two realms - the realm of Adam from the realm of Christ; the economy of the Old Testament written in stone to the economy of the New Testament written in your heart. Let me just tell you something that might help. The Old Covenant is not Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Judges and Joshua - that's not the Old Covenant. And the New Covenant is not Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts and Corinthians - that's not the New Covenant. Those things are all the Word of God. Those things are scripture, those are all part of the living Word of God. The Old Covenant has to do with knowing God after the flesh - knowing God in an outward way. You can study Matthew and still be into the Old Covenant. You can read the book of the Revelation and still abide under the Old Covenant. If it's just words on a page to you, you're still under the Old Covenant. If you're still knowing God after the experience of Mt. Sinai, you're under an Old Covenant. The Old Covenant is not the difference between Malachi and Matthew - the Old Covenant is the difference between knowing God after an outward way, and having the very Word of God revealed in you by the Holy Ghost. That's the difference in the two covenants. And when Christ begins to be revealed in you, He is just as real in Genesis as He is in Acts. The Old Covenant and the New Covenant are two extreme ways of knowing God. In one He speaks to you and in the other He is revealed in you. Hallelujah! In one His Word in written on a page, but in the other that same Word is written in your heart by the Holy Spirit. Ye are not come to the Old Covenant, you are come to the New Covenant. You are come to a new way of knowing God! But who shall ascend to the top of the mount? Or shall we just continue our scripture memorization programs? I don't mean you ought not to memorize scripture. But folks, you can memorize all the scripture that there is, unless the Holy Spirit reveals the Word IN YOU, you're under an Old Covenant. God isn't interested in writing on stone any more. He's not interested in writing on paper any more. I understand the Holy Scripture, I understand the Holy Word - yes. But it's not supposed to be left on the page called "Matthew"; it's not supposed to be left on that page called "Luke"; it's not supposed to be left on that page called "Ephesians" - it's supposed to be written in your heart, called the LIVING WORD OF GOD! Ye are come to that folks, ye are come to a living mountain, ye are come to the Living Word of God! Shall we ascend to the top or shall we continue under the old economy? That's the question. So we're brought to a division. On the one side - picture with me - on the one side there's a huge mountain, tremendous mountain. It's called Sinai. It represents everything that God is under the old economy. It represents all of the old. It represents the time past. Did God speak there? Yes, in time past He spoke there. Did God reveal Himself there? Yes, after a measure He revealed Himself there. But did God fully reveal Himself there? No, He did not, no, He could not. Instead He built a tabernacle, and He had to put gold upon wood, and cover the whole thing with a badger skin to make a resemblance of Him in the wilderness. Is that the tabernacle we've come to? Is that the tabernacle that you are? No, it is not. He administrated the Word by angels. Is that the administration you've come to, the administration of angels? No, it is not. You have come to the administration of the Divine Person of the Holy Ghost! No angel can get inside of you - but the Holy Ghost - the Holy Ghost indwells Mt. Zion! I'm just trying to tell you that there's a greater administration than what the Old Testament, the Old Covenant offers. So on one side there is this mountain called Sinai, that God one time visited; one time showed Himself; wrote on stone tablets. On the other side of the spectrum there is another mount. It's not made out of dirt and rocks, it's made out of living stones! Hallelujah! It's not designed for the Mosaic priesthood, it is designed for a new priesthood, Mt. Zion. There God does not write in stones, there He writes in a people HIS WORD. There He does not meet with Moses, backside to backside. There He meets with those that are in Christ, who will dare to ascend to the top of mountain; there He meets with them as FACE TO FACE. So you have these two mountains. And in between those two mountains you have a hill - and that hill is called "THE SKULL" - the very meaning of Golgotha suggests death. It is not a place of glory, it's a place of death. And it sets between - THE CROSS. Just like the cross in the tabernacle - the furniture arranged as a cross in the tabernacle. Just like that tabernacle was between Egypt and Canaan, so Golgotha, the hill of Golgotha, the place of the Skull sets between Sinai and Zion. THE CROSS - the cross divides them one from another. And you can not bring off of Sinai material into Zion. You can not bring over the priesthood. You can not bring over God's way of dealing. You can not bring over God's way of talking. You can not bring the old over into the new. Because the cross is set there between the two and it will not allow any cross overs whatsoever. Everything that the old pointed to Jesus fulfilled it. Every sacrifice, every blood offering, every commandment, every demand - all of it, gather it all up - He fulfilled it in His own Person! And He did that at the cross. So the cross is this dividing place. The cross is absolute. You and I - we do not understand the absoluteness of the cross. Now please do not misunderstand me. I'm on this one point. HE TAKES AWAY THE FIRST, AND HE ESTABLISHES THE SECOND. The first is fully represented in Sinai; there is the first. The law was given in Sinai. Folks, tell me, you who know the scriptures. Why was the law given? The law was given because of sin. The Bible says that. Sinai represents God's dealing with sin. The law was given because of sin. The law was given as a schoolmaster to keep us unto the coming of faith, unto the coming of Christ, unto the coming of something better. The law could never make man righteous. The law could never make man holy. The law could never bring forth the Son of God. The law could not do that. And all that surrounded Sinai - God's method of having to deal with them. He could not speak in a people because He could not dwell in a people. He could not dwell in them because of sin. Not just the sins of Israel - the sin of Adam. He could only in types and shadows deal with them. He could only set up a type, set up a pattern, set up a way that had to come to a fulfillment. That's all He could do there. Most of us do not understand the completeness of the cross. We think that at the cross just some of our sins were dealt with - the things that we've done that have been ugly. Much more than that was dealt with. A whole regime was deal with. A whole economy was dealt with. A whole way of God dealing with man was dealt with. A whole creation was dealt with. A whole priesthood was dealt with. A whole nation was dealt with. Oh yes, all of that was dealt with at the cross. The cross is absolute in its work. God help us to see the absoluteness of it because we want to claim that we have come to Mt. Zion but somehow we seem to think we bypass the cross to get there. But we didn't. Ye are come to Mt. Zion by a new and living way - that is through THE BLOOD - the blood of the Lord Jesus. The Cross. And nothing carries over. Sin doesn't carry over. The old creation doesn't carry over, but neither does the old economy, the old priesthood, the old tabernacle - none of that carries over. Don't you and I understand that when Christ died on the cross, one of the most significant things to take place visibly was that the veil in the temple was rent from top to bottom, and from the back sides, the inside out - signifying the absolute end of the old economy, signifying the end of the three compartments that separated us from the very presence of the living God. The cross did that! How did it do it? Because at the cross the first man, who was at enmity with God, who at best could be dressed up in a uniform, who at best could be garbed with robes and decked out with material things - that's his best shot. And even then he had to carry a bowl of blood with him. Do you see that? Even man at his best could not of himself enter into the presence of God! Even man in the robes of the High Priest could not of himself do that. Not only was he dressed up, he had to carry the blood with him. See, what I'm trying to tell you beloved, this is a monumental thing that we have come to. You haven't come to an old mountain with a new thing. You have come to a new mountain, a new economy, a new way of knowing God. You've come by a new and a living way which is paid for and signified by the cross. But you can not bring any of the old over with you - none of it. And we are continually trying to do this. We're continually still trying to know God as from the outside. We're continually trying to know God with the eye and with the ear, by the senses, trying to know God. And while it is true that God still manifests Himself in ways that the eye can see and the ear can hear, that is not the knowing of God that Mt. Zion represents. There is a new way. There is a better way. There is a deeper way. And so the cross is absolute. It will allow nothing of the old economy across - nothing can come across. It all ends there. And the only thing that comes forth out of that death is the RISEN CHRIST. Like as Christ was raised up by the glory of the Father, even so we should walk in newness of life. What I'm telling you is when you come and embrace the cross, you're laying down more than some sins - you're laying down your very life. You are laying down your very identity. You are laying down everything you ever were - good, bad, big or little. You're laying it down as a crucified thing - a thing that cannot be brought over into the new. We are come to a great divide here. The cross is not historic. The cross is not some doctrinal thing. The cross is the truth of God, the wisdom of God and the power of God. That's the cross. And the cross divides all that is old from all that is new. We will not, we can not ascend to the top of Mt. Zion until we see that we are come to Mt. Zion. As long as we still have in our mind Old Covenant mentality, we'll not ascend to anything. You can't begin to climb the mountain until the realization strikes in your heart that we are brought to another mountain, this is another mountain here. This is not the old way of knowing God. This is a new way of knowing God. We are come to Mt. Zion. And in coming to Mt. Zion we came by way of the cross. Until our hearts come to Mt. Zion, until we are separated in Christ, from all that is not Zion, unto all that is Zion - until there is that definite separation in my heart. Not only from sin but from the old economy. Not only from sin but from the old way of knowing God. And it is a shame that many of us are still trying to know God by the same way we knew Him when we were born again. We're still trying to know God in the same measure, after the same manner we knew Him when we first came to Him. And there's got to be an ascending to the top of the mount - to knowing Him in a way that has no resemblance with Sinai. That does not depend upon the eyes and the ears and the nose and any of those things. And so it is, a crucifixion must take place in our hearts. A separation unto Zion. We must understand that when I came by way of the cross from Sinai to Mt. Zion, everything of the old is ended. And there everything in Christ is new. A New Creation, a New Man, a new way of knowing God - everything is new. I can not carry over any of the old with me. I must say right now - it is dead. It is crucified. It is done away. Yes, even the way that God used to speak to me, He can no longer speak to me that way. There's a better way. There's a more complete way for those who ascend to the top of Mt. Zion. So we're brought to a division. Hebrews is a dividing of the old from the new. I want you to look at that for just a moment. The dividing from all that is old - time past - unto all that is new - Ye are come to Mt. Zion. Ye are come into a living relationship with a living God. And now God wants to speak to you by living Word. In the first chapter of Hebrews the division begins. "God who at sundry times and in diverse manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days ..." It means this - hath at the end of those times. You see these Hebrews said, now look, back there under Moses at Mt. Sinai God spoke this way. He did it this way, He did it that way. Fire came down on top of the mountain and the cloud came, angels administrated, God wrote in stone. Diverse ways. This is the way - let's go back to that. Paul is saying No - that is in time past. That is under an old economy. That's in an old mountain. That's not where you are now. "...hath at the end of those times spoken unto us IN THE SON." Your translation here in the Kings James says "spoken unto us by his Son". In the Greek it says "hath spoken unto us IN SON." What does that mean? Well, I'm speaking to you in English. But when God speaks, he doesn't speak in English, and he doesn't speak in Spanish, and he doesn't speak in German because all of those are the language of the old man. In Christ there is no English, there is no Spanish, there are no Germans, there are no Jews, there are no Greeks - they are not there. What happened to them? They only made it as far as the cross. Under the old economy God dealt with that mess but under the new economy he isn't dealing with it. He has already dealt with it. He dealt with it at the cross. And when you and I come to the Truth of the Cross, it will be dealt with in our heart. I'll be glad when I deal with J W Luman as certainly as I have dealt with some of the sins that he committed. I'll be glad when I take J W Luman to the cross and nail him there - not just some of the sins he did. Yes sir, because he is not found after the flesh, after the old economy in Christ. He is not found there that way. It's only in my unbelieving heart that this identify still remains. And that gives me problems with me and with you and with God. Do you see what I'm trying to get down to here? We're come to a great divide here. We're come to a tremendous division here. It is not after the old. God does not speak in English, Spanish or German. I know what you're thinking. You're thinking about gifts of the Spirit, but that's God speaking to you. How does God speak in you? He speaks IN SON. His language is not English - it is Son. His language is not Spanish - it is Son. His language is not German - it is Son. So when God reveals His Son in you, when God speaks in you, when God reveals His Word in you, when God reveals His Word in the top of Mt. Zion, when He brings the Son into view...(In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, the Word was God, the same was in the beginning with God.) When He brings His Eternal Word, when you really hear the Word of God - not just prophesy concerning the Word, not just tongues and interpretation concerning the Word; when the Word of God, the Living, Eternal Word, Everlasting Word of God is revealed in you - it's not going to be revealed there as a Spaniard, or as an Englishman or as a German, or a Jew. No Sir, none of that. He'll be revealed then as the Eternal, Everlasting SON OF GOD who is neither Jew nor Greek, neither bond nor free, neither male nor female, but a NEW MAN, a NEW CREATURE, a NEW CREATION. Under the old way of knowing God he had to deal with me as J W Luman - that's the only way I'll let him do it. But he deals with me under the old economy under the law. He keeps me there simply to bring me to the faith of the new economy, where he can deal with me not as a J W Luman, not as a white man, but where he can deal with me as HIS SON - Hallelujah! And as long as he has to deal with me as an Englishman, as long as he has to deal with me as a white man, as long as he has to deal with me as J W Luman, I'm still under the old economy with God. I'm still at Sinai. Because none of that is found at Zion. IN ZION HE REVEALS HIS SON. He reveals His Son in Mt. Zion. Ye are come to Mt. Zion and God wants to speak a truth in you! It's not his desire to speak to us as from the outside. I'm not telling you there's no need for gifts, but what is the need for gifts? They are needful until the perfect Word is come. When shall prophecies cease? When that which is perfect is come. When shall tongues cease? When that which is perfect is come. When will the gift of healing cease to operate? When nobody else needs to be healed. I'm just trying to show you that these things are not eternal - they are temporal, meant to minister to temporal needs. But right now you can begin to walk in the Living Word of God. I didn't say we're going to do away with gifts. I said you can begin to walk in the LIVING WORD OF GOD - God not just speaking to you after a manner that one day sooner or later even in its perfect form is going to fail and pass away because it will be completed. But right not - Mt. Zion. See where you've been brought, folks. You've been brought to a place where God desires to reveal His Eternal Word in you. Yes. we'll operate gifts of the Spirit because of the need for them in the Church. Yes, we'll continue because the Church has not come to maturity. Yes, there's the need for the offices of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Teacher, Pastor - all of this - yes. But why? Because we haven't come in the unity of the faith. But I'm telling you - ye are brought to Mt. Zion that you might begin to ascend to the top of the mountain and at Mt. Zion it is not God's purpose to continue to talk to you; it is his purpose to reveal His Word in you. So in the very first chapter of Hebrews we're told the division begins. God who spoke in time past after this manner, now in these last days, now at the end of those times hath spoken in another manner altogether. But how many of us have heard him? How many of us have allowed him to reveal that Word in us - the truth of which will declare that I am not after the old, but after the new? The truth of which will cause me to declare that I am not Jew, I am not Greek, I am not this ... I AM CRUCIFIED AND CHRIST IS MY LIFE! How many of us have heard that Word? Neighbor, that's the reason you are brought to Mt. Zion. God has one Word to reveal in the mount. And he has said everything that he has to say in that one Word. In that one Word he has gathered up all wisdom, all knowledge, all the treasures of understanding. In that one Word he has gathered up all the fulness of God. In that one Word he has gathered up all the light of all the knowledge of all the glory of God. And Mt. Zion, hear me tonight, HE DESIRES TO REVEAL THAT WORD IN YOU! He desires to reveal that Son in you! That you may be known by him, and that you and I may live according to that Word. Although Sinai was just a type, because it was the irrefutable type, the Word that was revealed at Sinai had to be obeyed at the cost of death. My question to you and the question that you will find in reading the book of Hebrews is just this - that if they could not deny the Word that came in stone, if they could not reject the administration of angels, how shall we escape if we neglect so great Salvation? Not God writing in stone, but God revealing His Son in you. Not something about Him written on a page, but the very Person of the Living God, the very Person of the Word, the very Person of the Son revealed in you, and we neglect it or refuse to hear it. What say I'm just going to live my life any way. I don't care what the Bible says. Bless God, I'm male. I don't care what the Bible says, I'm this nationality, I'm that, I don't care. And God is revealing His Word in us that is saying, No, you're not, no, you're not. You're not come to that. I have brought you to Mt. Zion that I may reveal my Truth in you, that I may reveal my Son in you, that I may write my Living Word in you so that you may live and abide in that Word, in that knowledge, in that reality, so that you may live according to my Eternal Word. And if they who refused to obey that written in stone died in the wilderness, died by stoning, died by the death, how shall we escape if we neglect the One Living Word of God that the Spirit desires to reveal in Mt. Zion? I'm just trying to tell you in as plain a language as I can put it - the days are over when you and I can claim to be Christians ... the days are over. We've been brought to Mt. Zion, we've been brought to a place of the Living God, the mount of the Most High, the Holy mountain of God. We've been brought there by death and resurrection, we've been brought there by way of the cross. The old has not come over. Not even the good part of the old, not even the priesthood of the old, not even the things of God of the old - they didn't even come over. It's a new priesthood, a new way, a new administration, a new word, a new sacrifice, a new and living way. We've been brought there. And therefore the day is over that I can say I am a Christian and I am a white man. The two are mutually incompatible one with the other. I am a Christian and I am a Jew. I am a Christian and I am a Gentile. You are either one or the other, but you're not both. In HIM there is neither nor. What, know ye not that as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ, where there is neither Jew nor Greek, neither bond nor free, neither male nor female - but ye are all ONE IN CHRIST JESUS! And then Colossians 3, "Lie not one to another seeing that ye have put off the old man and his deeds and have put on the new man which is created in righteousness and renewed after the knowledge of God where there is neither Jew nor Greek, bond nor free, Scynthian, Barbarian, circumcised, uncircumcised, but Christ is all and in all." GOD ONLY HAS ONE SON TO REVEAL IN ZION. He only has One Word to reveal in Zion. And when he reveals that Word, he will with that Word take away the first, and he will establish in the top of Mt. Zion, he will establish the second! When God reveals His Word in you, he will take away your old identity and he will establish the identity of the Son. Hallelujah! YE ARE COME TO MT. ZION! It's a pitiful place to be if you want to live your own life. But if you want to know Him in His fulness, it's the only place to be. None of me there, none of you, none of that, none of the old, none of that. God is going to take us to the top of the mountain just like he took Moses, but instead of hinder part, the hidden part, it is FACE-TO-FACE. We behold Him! "for we all with an open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord are changed into that same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." That's the work in the top of Mt. Zion. He is bringing forth His Son in a people. He is bringing forth His Son in a mountain. He is revealing His Son in a mountain, in a people. He is uttering forth his great voice that will shake the first, that which can be removed and it shall be removed, that what remains shall testify of itself that it can not be removed; that it is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself! Thanks be unto the glory of God. It's an exciting thing in my soul to know that God has brought us to Mt. Zion, the place we can hear His voice and live in it, the place of the revelation of His Son, and by God's grace and the direction of His Spirit we'll deal with that later. But now, just this - the irrefutable and the irresistible revelation of Jesus Christ in the top of Mt. Zion - YOU CAN NOT SEE HIM AND BE THE SAME EVER AGAIN. When God reveals His Son in Zion, when His voice begins to roar and fill up Zion, Zion - you'll never be the same. That we be filled with the knowledge of Christ; that we be filled with the revelation of Jesus; that we be filled with the revealed Word of God that the voice of God fill up Zion. The irrefutable, the irresistible revelation of Jesus Christ! May God bring us to this place by His Spirit. Folks, ye are come to Mt. Zion. You are in Christ. You are come to this place. How shall we escape if we neglect it? You are come to this place. Now the Spirit says, 'come up here. I would speak with you. Come up here, I would reveal My Word in you. Come up here, I would commune with you face-to-face.' You are come to that, you know. Great Salvation, the Hebrew writer calls it. How shall we escape if we neglect so Great Salvation? Not just getting out, but the coming in to the very presence of the Most High God! All the way through this book of Hebrews the division is there. In Chapter two it is not Moses the servant, it is the Son reigning over His own house. In Chapter seven it is not the priest after the order of the law, but it is the priest after the order of Melchizedek, the priest after the order of the endless life. In Chapter twelve it is not Moses and Mt. Sinai with the backside of God, but it is Christ revealed in Mt. Zion face-to-face. There's a division here. Let us pray. God in heaven, by your Spirit begin to make that division in my heart. Begin to make that division in my heart, that my heart begin to be divided unto Zion. Dividing me from all that is of the old, from all that is of the old man, the old creature, the old economy, the old way of knowing God - divide my heart to ascend to the top of Mt. Zion. My Father, bring thy people to the top of the mount and there reveal thy Son in us. FATHER, REVEAL THY SON IN US. Speak to us in Son! Speak to us by Thy Living Word that we may know the Truth that makes us free - free from all that the old represents, that we may stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free. That we be not entangled again in the yoke of bondage. Oh, Spirit of God, divide, separate our hearts unto Thyself. REVEAL THY SON IN ZION. REVEAL THY SON IN ZION. Glory to God! PART TWO Now YE ARE COME TO MT. ZION. We progressed to the stage that we have found that Mt. Zion is a dividing point of all that is of the old from all that is of the new. And we've come to the stage in our study that in coming to Mt. Zion it means firstly - He taketh away the first and He establishes the second. And that's exactly what happens when we begin to realize the significance that not only have we come to Zion, but in coming to Mt. Zion, and all that Mt. Zion is - because Mt. Zion is a spiritual reality. Do you understand that Mt. Zion is not a historical thing, it's not a traditional thing. Mt. Zion is a spiritual reality, a spiritual relationship, a spiritual reality that we are brought to in Christ Jesus. But because we are there, we've got to deal with that mountain. We've got to deal with the reality of being in Christ. If you weren't in this building tonight, then you wouldn't have to deal with the realities of being here. We took up an offering a while ago. If you weren't sitting in this building, you wouldn't have to deal with the reality of an offering. But because you were in this building, and more than that, because you are part of the fellowship and of the church that meets in this building - because you're here you had to deal with the need of the Gospel. Well ye are come to Mt. Zion! Now - there are many of those that are in Christ who remain ignorant of what it means to be in Christ. And so many believers who are come to Mt. Zion, who are in Christ Jesus, have not yet dealt in their hearts, in a inward way, with the reality of what it means to be in Christ; with the reality of what it means to come to Mt. Zion; they kind of live in a figment of their own imagination as though they are still camped around a Mt. Sinai. As though God is still kind of on the outside looking in rather than on the inside working. Amen. For it is God who worketh in you, the scripture says. "It is God who worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." So, we have come to Mt. Zion and one of the first realities that we began to find, that the Holy Ghost begins to awaken us to is that He has taken away the first, that He may establish the second. In Mt. Zion He is bringing us to all things that are new. A new realm. We have to begin to consider a new realm. We have been considering a new economy. Coming to Mt. Zion we have to consider a new time - a time when all things are NOW. Glory to God! A new time. To you that are in Christ Jesus, if you can hear this - time is no more. If nothing else happens, I want to shake you out of Sinai - the Sinai mentality - the seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, feeling mentality - into the reality of the Spirit. Where we walk not by sight, where we look not at the things that are seen, but the things that are unseen. Realizing that the things that are seen are temporal, are passing, they are part of that economy which is no longer pertinent. But the things that are unseen are ETERNAL! And yet these things are not seen except the Spirit of God reveals them - not only TO YOU, but IN YOU! That we get shaken out of this realm that Salvation is just getting out of sin, just not sinning anymore; and that we begin to be awakened to the reality that Mt. Zion is the fulness of all that Salvation is, and that Salvation is not just coming out from sin, but literally walking into the fulness of Jesus Christ! And then as a corporate people, manifesting that reality in the earth, because Mt. Zion sets on the earth. It is not earthly, it sets on the earth. It is not of the earth, it sets on the earth. It is not worldly, it sets on the earth. Ye are come to such a realm. You are come in Christ to such a reality. And yet we continue to insist that we are earthly. We continue to identify ourselves as earthly in realms of living, in realms of knowing God, in realms of time, in realms of ministry. But ye are not come there. And Paul is trying to uproot these believers from an old mentality and bring them over by the Spirit of God into a new mentality that they begin to look around with the enlightened eye. "The eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that God would give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ." The eyes of your understanding being enlightened that the light would come on. And that you and I would begin to see the length and the breadth and the depth of all that is in Christ, and begin to ascend to the top of Mt. Zion, the holy mount of the Most High God. Ye are brought there. You didn't come there by some effort of your own, neither did I. You are brought there IN CHRIST JESUS. You are brought there through the death and resurrection of the Lord. But beloved, that's where ye are come. And because ye are come to Mt. Zion you're going to have to begin to face the reality of it. " How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?" There's no going back, there's no looking back, there's no turning back. There's just an ascension into the top of the mount. Folks, you've been brought to a wonderful thing. You've been brought to a glorious thing. You've been brought into the fulness of the Lord Jesus Christ, and now WALK YE THEREIN! So there is this passing away of the first and the establishing. Jesus says upon this rock I will build my church. There is an establishing of the second. From glory to glory to glory to glory. There is a building up of the Body of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is a coming forth in the earth of all that Christ is. And where do you think that's going to come forth? In you - IN YOU! It's coming forth in Mt. Zion! So a crucifixion must take place. A crucifixion must take place in our hearts. A separation must occur in our heart from all that is before, from all that is old - a separation unto all that is new. All that is old unto all that is new. Let the Spirit of the Lord begin to speak to you about that. I'm going to give you a little formula. NOT - N-O-T - BUT -B-U- T. It's in Hebrews 12 verse 18, for ye are not come unto this that can be touched, this that can be seen, this that passes away, but ye are come. NOT - BUT. The whole of the New Testament, in fact the whole of the Bible is divided by those two words. The dividing of all that is NOT, from all that is - NOT - BUT. "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet Not I, But Christ." They who are born not after the flesh but after the Spirit. Right on down the line you'll find this division, dividing from that which is no longer valid; that which God has written a big N-O-T over. Even many ways that He used to work, but they are now called "time past". And he says that is not valid any more, that is not where I'm moving any more, that is part of the system, the realm, the regime, the time, the economy, the priesthood that is NOT. BUT CHRIST - Oh, Hallelujah! Just look at that. Write that down, and you'll have a good time searching the scriptures and just dividing - you'll just see it in the scriptures and God will lead you. There's not just a few, it's all the way through the book. NOT - BUT, NOT - BUT. It will begin to thrill your heart, and you'll begin to realize there are many believers who are still living under the NOT. Mentality wise - I mean their understanding of the Lord is still in that realm that is NOT. And they are trying to find the fulness of God in that realm that is NOT - that is no longer. And you can't find it there, because He has moved us on unto that realm of the Spirit where His fulness is freely revealed to whosoever will. Thank God! So there must be this crucifixion take place in our heart of the first. All that is first must be seen as ended at the cross. All that is first. And then we can enter into the second, to the last. And then comes the statement in its fulfillment, "The first shall be last and the last shall be first." Christ comes forth in the place of everything else. And that's what it means to come to Mt. Zion. So now, let's start up into the mount. I want you to turn to Exodus 33 with me. The question now is What or who do we find in the top of Mt. Zion? Now you remember that the top of Mt. Zion is just signifying a full spiritual relationship. The top - as different from just camping around the bottom. Pressing on in, pressing on, ascending on - into that which we have been brought to. We've been brought to the mount for one reason - THAT'S TO GO TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNT. Now - who is it that we meet? Who is it that we see? Who is it that we find in the top of the mount? That's the question. In Exodus 33 beginning with verse 12, and I'll not read all of this to you, through verse 23, but you'll find a conversation that Moses is having with God. Part of verse 13 says, "..show me now thy way that I may know thee." Now in the first place, nobody is going to climb Mt. Zion except they want to know God. So we're coming down now to where we're really only speaking to those who say 'I want to know God'. And if you're satisfied with anything else you're not going to bother about climbing Mt. Zion. But dear heart, and here comes the statement, "How shall we escape if we neglect climbing Mt. Zion?" How shall we escape if we neglect all that God has placed in Christ? All that He died for. All that He came forth in resurrection power for. How shall we escape? There are two companies of people that are mentioned in the Bible. Galatians 5:24 and Hebrews 6:6 - there's two companies of people found in the Bible. One of those companies of people are accused of crucifying Christ afresh and putting the cross to an open shame, because they refuse to enter in. The other company is said that they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh. It comes down to it, folks. That you either crucify Him or you crucify the flesh. You either put Him back to an open shame or you follow through unto the crucifixion of the flesh. There's only two kind of companies found here. Now which will we be? I want to bring this to our attention. That it's not just that, well, we've come to Mt. Zion, now we'll just camp around the bottom. No, no, we either ascend to the top, or we put to an open shame all that God has done to bring us here. So the type here is in Moses, the type here is in Israel again. And he brought Moses and he brought Israel to Sinai, and you have to understand a whole lot of background. You've got to understand that God is now seeing all of Israel in the person of Moses. You've got to understand that God is dealing with all of Israel in Moses. He hasn't just got Moses out there, folks, he's got the whole nation of Israel out there and he's chosen Moses to lead them and he is speaking to Israel through Moses. In the Exodus God never speaks to Israel outside of Moses, never, never, never under any circumstances. In fact, God speaks to Moses, Moses speaks to Aaron, Aaron speaks to Israel and Israel hears. So God is seeing all of Israel with Moses. You've got to understand that, because when God called Moses to the top, he is calling Israel forth in Moses. HE IS CALLING ISRAEL TO THE TOP, but he 's doing it in his servant Moses, because everything he tells Moses - he says, "tell my people Israel". Everything he shows Moses - "show it to my people Israel" - go back to my people. So what I'm saying is this - God never brought Israel to the foot of Sinai to camp around the base. Tell me this, you who know Old Testament history, what happened during the time when Israel camped around the base? That's when the golden calf was built. That's when they sinned against God. The idleness of neglecting. Moses said, "stand still, be still. I'm going up yonder. I will come again." But they were totally separated from the ascent in their heart. They finally said, "Moses is gone off somewhere. He's never even going to come back." See they were totally separated. How many of us in our hearts are totally separated from the ascension of the Lord? We say in our hearts, He's gone off somewhere, been gone for 2000 years. I don't think He ever is gonna come back. I'll just live my life the way I want to live it. I'm not talking about sinners. I'm talking about religiously carrying on in what we call 'the absence of the Lord'. But, oh, Beloved, that is not it. Now I'm not touching the end-time doctrines. I'm not talking about rapture. Put that aside. I'm talking about a REALITY here. In REALITY we are not separated. In reality He's not gone off. The type was in Israel. Look at it if you will. God desired the heart of Israel to ascend the mount with Moses. Read it. Israel was to be waiting in an expectancy! Waiting, in an expectancy. But their heart was separated from the top of the mountain. Their heart was not with Moses. Their attention was not with Moses. They in fact were not with Moses. But you say, He's gone off and He hasn't come back yet. But I choose to differ with you on a purely spiritual plain now. I'm not talking end-time events - a spiritual reality. YE ARE COME TO MT. ZION, ISRAEL. Does not the scriptures say... that you are quickened together with Christ, are also raised up together with Christ, and made to sit together in Christ in heavenly places? Does not the scripture say that? Then the scripture is not lying! But we can't see it with our eyes and we can't hear it with our ears and we can't understand it with our natural heart, so we live as though He has gone off and left us and is going to come back sometime and has left us to live our own lives. No sir! He has taken you in His very being to the top of the mountain. Ye are seated in heavenly places! If you can't see that then you need to never get up from praying until you do. Because that's the distinction between coming to Zion and not coming to Zion. That's the reason we still sing the songs "We're marching to Zion." NO - we're not marching to Zion. WE ARE COME TO ZION. We are come, we're not marching anywhere - we are come to Zion. We are ascending in the Spirit of Truth to the top of Zion, but ye are now come to Zion. I can tell you're having a hard time separating. You see we get so doctrinally minded that if we make Salvation real here and now, we all get upset doctrinally about that. I don't know why. I'm not touching doctrine. I'm not touching your doctrine on heaven, your doctrine of rapture - I'm not touching that. I'm talking about NOW. If you can see it, folks, the greatest thing God wants is to open your eyes. He wants you to ascend to the top of the mountain. He wants Zion to be a mountain of praise in the earth. Hallelujah! If you can see this. Jesus says in John 14 verse 20, "In that day ..." What day? THE DAY WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH IS COME! Is the Spirit of Truth come? He came 2000 years ago! Is he here now? Yes he's here now! "In that day ye shall know that I am in my Father..." Well, where are you? "Ye are in me and I am in you". Now that's the place the eye can't see. It's a place the ear can't hear, but the Spirit of God will open the eyes of your understanding and you will begin to live on this earth seated in heavenly places. God saw all of Israel in Moses when he called Moses up to the top of the mount. And sees every truly born again believer in Christ Jesus right now, tonight. If we could only see as God sees. Is we only knew where we are, as He knows where we are. The Apostle Paul spent a great deal of his time in penitentiaries, did he not? You know he did. In none of his epistles do you find the description of the penitentiary. He doesn't tell you what it looks like, he doesn't describe it. If you and I get thrown in a penitentiary, we'd write two or three best selling books. Sure we would. Everybody would know every flea bite we got. Everytime we had to kill a cockroach or a rat. We would be all conscious to our surroundings and to our environment. But Paul had ascended to the top of Mt. Zion. He had ascended to another consciousness, to another realm. And while sitting in custody, what did he say? "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sets upon the right hand of God." What did he say? "We are seated with him in heavenly places." What did he say? "YE ARE IN CHRIST." Paul understood where he was. He wasn't blind, deaf and dumb, but he understood that before I'm in a prison, I AM IN CHRIST JESUS! Tell me the time he said I'm a prisoner of Rome? Tell me the time he said I'm a prisoner of the Jews? NO, sir. "Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ!" That's not the statement of an optimistic person. That's the statement of a saint of God who is standing in the top of Mt. Zion and knows where he is! And I'm going to tell you, I may look like I'm in Baltimore, Maryland, I may look to you like I'm standing here, but dearly beloved, before I'm in Baltimore, before I'm standing on a red carpet, I am seated in heavenly places and it's from there that I'm speaking to you! And I'll tell you something else, if I'm not speaking to you from there, then we need to close down and go home. Because you don't need to hear anything that doesn't come from there. For ye are not come to all of that business. Ye are come to Mt. Zion. And if you're not going to hear the Word of God from the top of Mt. Zion, what are you doing at Mt. Zion? It's not to keep saying, "Yes sir, we are come to Mt. Zion" and live like we're still at Sinai. So God said "Moses, come up here." But why did God say, Moses come up here? Because Moses said, "I WANT TO KNOW YOU!" Look at his dialogue here. I'll not read it all. "I want to know you. I'm not going to move from this spot. Your people are not going to move from this spot. We're not moving an inch unless your presence goes with us. Show me thy ways." The Bible says in another place that God showed his ways to Moses in his acts to Israel. Moses desired to know the ways of God. Israel sinned against God in the wilderness. Israel never did in the wilderness learn the ways of God. They never did - they saw his acts, but they never learned his ways. Moses said, "I WANT TO KNOW YOU. I WANT TO KNOW YOU!" Now look at verse 18. "And he said, I beseech thee, show me thy glory." Hallelujah! Show me thy glory. Verse 20, "And God said, Thou canst not see my face, for there shall no man see me and live." For there shall no man see me and live. And you know what he did? He put him in a cleft and he passed by with his hinder parts. But Moses had said I want to see your glory. God interpreted that as saying I want to see your face and God said you can't see my face. NO MAN can see me and live. Hear what I'm saying because this is the crux of what I want to tell you. NO MAN - here's our problem. God help us to say it and the Lord help us to hear it, because I'm deadly serious with you. We're down to the issue of Zion, folks. NO MAN can see my glory - my face, as you have asked to do Moses. NO MAN. If man could do it, I'd do it. Because out of all of Israel, you're the only one who wants to know me. And I'm having to look at Israel in you, or I couldn't stand them. I'd destroy every one of them. Are you hearing what I'm saying? The only way God can look at you and I is in Christ Jesus! That's the only way he can stand the sight of us - is in Christ Jesus. And when any of us says, Lord, I'd like to know you, he says "come up here, come up here. I've got something to show you. Come up here." NO MAN. No man can see me and live. That's why we talked about the cross. That's why Paul says what he says in Colossians the third chapter. "If ye be risen with Christ seek those things that are above where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affections on things above, not on the things on the earth. (not just what we call earthly, on the things on the earth. Why?) For you are dead." Why? Because no man who is yet living can see my face! And through death of the cross and resurrection in My Son, I have brought you to Mt. Zion where you can look at me face-to-face. But you'll never do it while you're still living in your heart with the mentality that you've got a life, that YOU are living. This is why we took so much time looking at that I am no more, you are no more, no more in any sense at all. Done away. The first is done away. The first. Moses was part of that first - can not see God. So he taketh away the first and he establishes the second. The first man is after the earth, earthy. The second man is the Lord from heaven. We, the first man have died with Him, and we have come forth in Him, yet Not I, but Christ. For I have no life of my own! But only when I reckon with that truth, only when that is truly worked in my heart - IN TRUTH - am I able to know God. NO man. No man. Folks, you're not just gonna come tramping in there. You're not going to live your life in the top of the mountain. I told you before, we want to put robes of righteousness on the old man and drag him up to the top of the mount and offer him as a substitute for Christ. And God says, 'I only know ONE SON in the top of my mountain, and that's not Him. This thing you've robed up and dragged up here - I only know that thing on the cross. I know you at the cross where you died in the body of My Son; where you are crucified; where you are no more. Now I only recognize ONE SON. And you come in His life. You come in His name. You come in His faith or you don't come here!" NO MAN CAN SEE MY FACE AND LIVE. So we had to come by way of the cross. And now the Holy Spirit is awakening us to the reality that it is not I, it is Christ. So we are come now to Mt. Zion. Hebrews 12 says, but we are not come, not as Moses, Moses part of the first. We are come to Mt. Zion but not as Moses. Moses saw the hinder parts. Folks, look what happened when he saw the hinder parts. Israel couldn't even stand to look at him when he saw the hinder parts. What in the world do you think is going to happen when we look face-to-face? 2 Corinthians 3:18 is what's going to happen. "For we all beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord are changed into his same image, from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord." 2 Corinthians 4:6, " For God who commanded the light to shine out of darkness hath shined IN our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Hear me, Mt. Zion, the only thing God wants to do in you and to you and through you - He desires to reveal His Son in you. He desires to lift you up into the heavenlies and reveal in you your very life, reveal in you your very new identity - your new holiness, your new righteousness, your new right standing with God. And who is that? ONE SON! He wants to reveal His Son in you! Paul says in Galatians the first chapter verse 6, "I marvel that you are so soon removed from H-I-M unto another gospel." Paul says there is a gospel that is not HIM. There's a gospel that includes Him; there's a gospel that is about Him, but I'm telling you the true gospel is HE, HIMSELF! Folks, the gospel is not something about Christ. The gospel is not doctrines built around Christ. The gospel is the very PERSON OF CHRIST. Paul says, "I certify you brethren that the gospel I preach to you was not taught me of man, neither did I learn it of man." Before that he said if we come back to you, or if any angel from heaven comes and he preaches any other than this gospel, let him be accursed. " I certify you brethren, that the gospel that I preach to you was not after man, neither did I learn it but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." What happened to you Paul? God took me to the top of the mount - and he revealed HIS SON IN ME! Verse 15 and 16, "For God who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace..." Why did he do that, Paul? Why did he separate you from your mother's womb? Why did he call you unto Mt. Zion by his grace? He had one reason for doing it. TO REVEAL HIS SON IN ME!! Oh, Church of the Living God, you are on this earth for a reason, and that is that God may reveal His Son in you! And bring you into His fulness. Why? That you may be the manifestation of Him in the earth. TO REVEAL HIS SON IN ME. All right. Look at Psalms 2. We're getting down to the meat of this little portion now. We all like to go to our mirrors and look at ourselves, don't we? That's the reason they're called "vanities". And then Paul picks up on this because they were called vanities in his day too. Paul says, " Do not walk as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of your mind." What does that mean? Do not walk as other Gentiles walk looking at themselves, supposing they have a life of their own, a righteousness of their own, a holiness of their own - that's how the other Gentiles walk. But we are they who look with an open heart, an unveiled heart into a mirror, and we see not our reflection, because I AM CRUCIFIED. BUT WE SEE HIM! We see the glory of God. It's not my face but His face. It is not me, but Christ living in me! Do you see that? That's what God wants to do, beloved. Most of us have accepted every work of God that it took to make us the Body of Christ - redemption, salvation - you name it. But very few of us have accepted the purpose for which we are the Body of Christ. And that is that God may reveal His Son in me. He didn't bring you to the mountain so you could camp out like Boy Scouts. He brought you to the mountain that you may ascend it in its height, because at the very peak, at the very top of the mountain, he wants to reveal HIS SON IN YOU! And every other work of the Holy Ghost is for that purpose - to bring you to a place where God can reveal His Son in you. I don't care - you name the ministries - I don't care what gift. I don't care what move. I'm telling you every work of the Holy Ghost ends in the revelation of Jesus Christ. Search the Word of God. Every move of the Holy Spirit is to bring you to the place where Christ can be revealed in you. Because that's the only thing that will change you into His image - God revealing His Son, not to me, IN ME, causing me to understand with the understanding that is from above - I no longer live. I am no longer this, I am no longer that, I AM NO LONGER, period. It is Not I, IT IS CHRIST WHO LIVETH IN ME. And I along with you, I am His Body! I'm not my body, I'm not your body - WE ARE HIS BODY. Folks, that's all we are, because anything else would be less. There is nothing greater - to be the habitation of the Living God, to be the very own Body of the Christ of God - what else is there to be? There is just to LEARN HIM! KNOW HIM! BE CONFORMED INTO HIS IMAGE AND MANIFEST HIM! All of this is wrapped up in the revelation of Jesus Christ. The revelation of Jesus Christ is not somebody's idea on how to baptize. The revelation of Jesus Christ is not some strange doctrine. The revelation of Jesus Christ is God revealing His Son in you by His Spirit. That's what it is. He revealed a Him in me! And now that One that He revealed in me is all I've got to talk about. He is my gospel! And my life. He is the Word of God and in His face, as I allow the Spirit to continue to reveal Him in me, in His face, looking at Him face-to-face, God reveals His fulness! Because in Him dwelleth all that fulness. In Him dwelleth all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. It pleased the Father that in Him dwelleth all things. And the Father reveals the Son in me and the Son brings me into a relationship with the Father. And where is it found? IN THE TOP OF MT. ZION! Psalms 2, verse 6, "Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion." Who sits in the top of Zion? " I will declare the decree. The Lord hath said unto me, Thou art My Son, this day have I begotten Thee." The word "begotten" here and in other places is properly translated 'declared or revealed'. That is not saying that Jesus the eternal Son of God was brought into being - no, no, that's not what it's saying. Where is it that the Father declares the Son, reveals Him, exalts Him, puts down everything but Him - just Him? It's in the top of Mt. Zion. It's in a people. I don't care how many times somebody may have declared to your ear drums, to you - "He's the Son of God" - if God has not revealed Him in you, you do not know Him as the Father knows Him. And He may be Savior to you from some sins, Healer from some sickness - all of this, but He is not yet the all-abiding, ever-existing Son, High Potentate of the Living God. Until the Father by His Spirit reveals Him in you, who constitute Mt. Zion. That's why Paul said, 'GOD REVEALED HIS SON IN ME'. That's why it is Paul a few verses later, writing the same letter, who said, I AM CRUCIFIED, because it is the revealing of the Son that brings to an end everything else. Paul is saying that because of that I have come to this awesome realization that I am no longer. It is not I standing in the top of the mount. NO, it is Christ who liveth in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I do not live by some faith I have in God - no, no, no more. I LIVE BY THE FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD. I am knowing the Father as the Son knows Him. Oh, believer friend, this is the whole purpose for bringing you to Zion - that He may reveal His Son in you. That His Son may establish His Kingdom in you, establish His throne in you. And there as the only Potentate, the only life, the only Son, rule and reign in His house, whose house you are! We are come to that, beloved. We are come to Mt. Zion so that the Father may reveal the Son. It is in the business of the revelation of the Son that we begin to realize the words that God spoke to Moses. "There's no room for man here - it's just my Son." This is one thing I want to leave with you - NO MAN CAN SEE HIM. Your natural mind can not see Him. " Eye hath not seen, ear hath not heard, neither entered into the heart of man the things that God had prepared for him... You say, oh well, those are over somewhere yonder. No, no, no - THOSE ARE IN CHRIST! Look at the next verse. " But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit ". What are these? The deep things of God. Look at it. And it ends with this, " But we have the mind of Christ." No man can see. Moses you can not see my face. Man can not see. But when we have passed through the cross, and the veil is taken off of our hearts. What is the veil? 2 Corinthians the third chapter - what is the veil? It is the veil of flesh. What flesh? My flesh. What is that? It's ME! It's going to the Bible and seeing me - J W Luman. It's going to the Bible and seeing that I'm a prophet, I'm an apostle, I'm a teacher, I'm this. I'm that. That's the veil. But when that veil is rent by the cross, then I see that I am absolutely nothing. What I am is - I am crucified. And if there's anything left of God, it has to be Christ - not me. That's what I mean. NO man can see. But when we come by way of the cross, God reveals what can not be seen. He reveals His Son in us. NO man can see. No man can come here. There is so much to be said here. Jesus says, "NO MAN CAN COME TO THE FATHER - NO MAN COMETH - BUT BY ME." That doesn't mean me and Him. That's not what He's saying. That means me IN HIM - having no life of my own. Because when I come by way of Him, I come by way of the cross. Before you're involved with Him in resurrection, you're involved with Him in crucifixion. No man comes. No man can come. So the scriptures say that in Christ Jesus there is no man, in Christ Jesus there is neither, nor - neither male nor female, neither Jew nor Greek, neither bond nor free - it lists MAN. There is no such thing in Christ - there is just a New Creation, where Christ is All and in All. This is what Paul got a hold of when God revealed His Son. And when God begins to reveal His Son in the top of Mt. Zion, you and I will begin to realize, thank God, it's not me, It is Christ. I have no life. My life is Christ. It is not my body, it is His Body. " No man can see me and live." So we're brought by the way of the cross, where we are dead and then raised up, but not I, Christ liveth in me. No man cometh to the top of Mt. Zion but a New Man. A Man who is not male nor female - BUT CHRIST. A Man who is not bond nor free - BUT CHRIST. A Man who is not Jew or Greek - BUT CHRIST. All of the other has been left at the cross and we have been brought forth in the newness of His life. And we ascend to Mt. Zion and God reveals Him in us, that we may stand and manifest Him, not ourselves. Manifest His life, manifest His name, manifest His Spirit, manifest His identity, understanding that there is no man here but the NEW MAN. And the New Man is not me, and it's not you, THE NEW MAN IS CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory! Hallelujah! Blessed be the Lamb of the Living God! We want to look next at true worship. True worship takes place in the top of Mt. Zion. God is Spirit. We're coming to a spiritual position. " They that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth ." True worship takes place in the top of Mt. Zion. I've got to tell you this. What happened in the tabernacle - Solomon built the tabernacle. What happened? The glory of God filled it. What happened? The priesthood had to get out of it - MAN COULD NOT WORSHIP THERE BECAUSE IT WAS FILLED WITH THE GLORY OF GOD. " Christ in you, the hope of glory." " Beholding the glory of God, changed into his image." It's not the old man worshipping in Mt. Zion, after the old way. It's a new way. It's a New Man who IS a praise to God - who IS a worship to God. Oh, Mt. Zion, folks, is altogether new. We're coming to that - TRUE WORSHIP IN THE TOP OF MT. ZION. Father, I ask in the name of Jesus that right now the shackles fall off of our hearts, that right now the scales fall off of our eyes, that right now the wax is melted in our ears. I ask right now that the spirit of wisdom and knowledge in the revelation of Him be given unto this people that Thy Son now begin to be revealed in this people. That this people come into a realm of understanding by the Spirit that we are come to Mt. Zion and that here there is no man but the New Man, the corporate man, where CHRIST IS ALL AND IN ALL. Break the bondage, break the fetter, take away the veil and reveal your Son now. Glory to God! Worship Him! Praise Him! AMEN! PART THREE Psalm 2, and then we'll go to Psalm 102. I want to deal with the PURPOSE of coming to Zion. The purpose of the whole thing is that we as a people... because Zion is a people, Zion is a corporate people brought forth in Christ Jesus. Zion is not some ancient piece of architecture somewhere. ZION IS A PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN BROUGHT BY THE SPIRIT IN CHRIST JESUS. Zion is a people who are dwelling in Christ Jesus. Zion is a people who are raised up together and made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus - that's who Zion is. And there is a tremendous PURPOSE in being brought to Zion. You know that our text has been Hebrews 12 - " YE ARE COME TO MT. ZION". Not ye are marching to Zion - ye are COME to Zion. Now beloved, let me tell you something, you may be growing up in Christ, hear me now - but you're not still trying to get in Christ. You're either in Christ or you're not in Christ. You're either born again or you're not born again. You're either seated with Him in heavenly places or you're having nothing to do with Him at all. AMEN! I'm not trying to get in Christ. I am in Christ! The process that's taking place is that we should be NOW growing up in Christ. And that's the Controversy of Zion - that's God's issue with Zion - is that we are sitting in Christ, but not too many of us are growing up in Christ. We're still relating our religion to whatever it was that got us out of Egypt. We're still relating the power of God to an act of deliverance, instead of an act of translation. Amen. We are come to Zion - we're not on our way. WE ARE COME. We have arrived. The work of God in Christ is finished. The work of God in Christ is complete. I may not have grown up into that. I may not have apprehended all of it. I may still be apprehending that for which I am apprehended of God. But the work of God is complete, it is finished, it is done. In Christ dwelleth the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Ye are complete in HIM! We are to grow up in that completeness. So, ye are come to Mt. Zion. You are in Christ. You are seated with Him in heavenly places, but this is a truth the natural mind cannot understand. This is a truth the natural eyes cannot see. This is a truth the natural ear cannot hear. This is a truth the natural mind cannot comprehend. So, in Mt. Zion, the Holy Spirit must enlighten the eyes of understanding. In Mt. Zion the Holy Spirit must lead you. In Mt. Zion you must live in the Spirit and walk in the Spirit and be taught in the Spirit. And there is a place where the Spirit is taking you, and that's to the top, that's to the fulness - the top of Mt. Zion. Now, what's he doing there? What's he doing in a people? What is God's purpose for the Church upon the earth? You say, world evangelization. No, it isn't. World missions - no, it isn't. I've been connected in world missions since back in the 60's. That's what I am, a missionary. But mission is not the purpose. Evangelization isn't. Those things would be the outworking of the purpose. Those things would be a tremendous result. We haven't seen any results yet. The PURPOSE of the Church, the purpose of Mt. Zion is that GOD MAY REVEAL HIS SON THERE. And that Church, that Body, that mount, may manifest that Son in the midst of the earth, and do it 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Well, that's the purpose, and that's saying an awful lot. There's so many parts to it, but that's the ultimate. Let's look at in the scripture. The revelation of Jesus Christ - the irrefutable, the irresistible...The work of the Holy Ghost in the top of Mt. Zion is undeniable. It is irrefutable. The work of the Holy Ghost in the top of Mt. Zion is irresistible. You may resist the call of God to come to salvation, but we that are come to Zion are set there for a purpose. It is an irresistible purpose - thank God. You're never going to be the same once Christ is revealed in you. You may harden your heart and resist the grace of God and refuse to come to salvation, but once you come, your life is not your own! Hallelujah! Once you come you set into a preprogrammed plan of God, and he is going to bring forth a Church in the image of His Son and the work of the Holy Spirit in the top of Mt. Zion is irrefutable. You don't have to try to figure out who you saw when you see Jesus! You don't have to try to figure out what happened to you when God reveals His Son in you. Psalm 2 verse 6, "Yet have I set my King upon my holy hill of Zion." I can not say it enough. I can not place too great an emphasis upon this. The purpose of Mt. Zion is for the exaltation - the rulership of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the place of His throne. It is to be the place of His absolute victory over death; absolute victory over hell; absolute victory over Satan; absolute victory over the world; absolute victory over carnality; absolute victory over self; ABSOLUTE VICTORY. Mt. Zion is meant to be such a place. A place where God has said in the divine Word and under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, it is written - IN MT. ZION I HAVE SET MY KING UPON MY HOLY HILL, MT. ZION. We are in the midst of a controversy here. We're in the midst of an issue here. God has one issue here. God has one issue in his heart - I am going to establish the absolute rule and reign of my Son in Mt. Zion. In Mt. Zion, my Son and no one else, nothing else, nothing, nothing, no one else, no man, nothing. Nothing shall be exalted or served but MY SON. Folks, ye are come to Mt. Zion. You are not come there to live your own life religiously. You're not come there to take a blessing from God every now and then. Ye are come. You are brought together. You are raised up together. You are joined together. You are not so many stones - ye are the melting place of ONE STONE. You have come together. You have been fitly joined together. You have been brought together as one mountain. One Body - for what purpose? FOR THE EXALTATION OF JESUS CHRIST! For the manifestation in the earth of His victory - of His complete victory over sin. Are you that? When anybody, any where, under any circumstance, at any time, any given place - in the car at rush hour? Behind the kitchen sink? In front of the kids? Are you the manifestation of the complete victory of Jesus Christ over sin? All times, all ways, all places? You say, brother, that's not even possible. Well, you just hold here and I'll read in II Corinthians 2 verse 14, "Now thanks be unto God, who always causeth us to triumph in Christ." But most of us don't know what that means. We think that means never have problems. You never have problems then you've never triumphed. Did you hear me? What do you think you triumph over? Amen. We never have a test - we never score a high grade. WHO CAUSETH US TO TRIUMPH IN CHRIST. But what is this triumph? Look at this. "And maketh manifest..." What did I tell you the purpose of Zion is? What is the purpose of the Church, the Body of the Lord Jesus Christ? What is the purpose of His flesh, of His blood, of His bones? The purpose of that people that are raised up together and made one with Him? What is the purpose? It is the manifestation of Him! Not just around the world but in Baltimore, Maryland. " Who always... and maketh manifest the savor of his knowledge by us in every place." I was talking to you about that altar of incense. That's where the savor was. But do you know that incense wasn't just mixed up? That incense was broken, it was mashed, it was pounded. And that's how the savor came out. What kind of savor would it have been if it had smelled good while it was in the shell, but when you cracked the shell it just stunk the place up? No, no. It was a special herb, a special incense that the priest took. But they had to pound it and beat it and grind it. And the more they pounded it, the sweeter it smelled. Hallelujah! The savor came out only through the pounding, only through the breaking, only through that. That's how the savor came out. I'll tell you something. You wait until somebody pounds on you a little and you'll know what's in you, because it will sure come out. You may have a smiley face painted on the shell, but when the shell is broken - what's underneath? You see, that's what God is interested in. Not what the shell is, because I'm going to guarantee you that he's going to break the shell. Thank God he's going to break the shell, but what's inside, what's underneath? Paul says, "...who maketh us always to triumph in Christ, and maketh us the savor of his knowledge..." Always - in every place we are the savor of his knowledge - of HIS LIFE! Look at this. " For we are unto God a sweet savor of Christ in them that are saved and in them that are perished. To one the savor of death unto death, to the other the savor of life unto life." But unto God we are a sweet smelling savor of Christ. Now what is he saying? He is saying that here is a people who in every situation, every place, every circumstance, always and in every place - THEY ARE THE SAVOR OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST! That's the purpose of Zion. Zion is to be the place of the manifestation of His absolute victory over sin, so that whatever happens to Zion, the only manifestation that comes out is victory over sin. The only manifestation that comes out is the savor of His knowledge, not the stink of mine, not the stink of yours, but the savor of His life! It's easy to manifest that savor in an environment like we're sitting in tonight. But then that never has been our problem. Our problem has always been that when we load up on the bus and get half way home and we have three flat tires and we run out of gas, our problem has always been to manifest the savor then. Always and in every place. Glory to God! YE ARE COME TO MT. ZION! Ye are come to the place where God intends fully to reveal His Son, fully to manifest His Son, and let me tell you something, folks. There is a dark side, there is the down side to this. It is an issue with God that HE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY OTHER MANIFESTATION IN ZION! Hebrews 12 says the voice of God is going to be uttered and it will shake not only the earth but the heavens and REMOVE that which is not stayed. Hebrews not only tells from crossing over from one administration to another, from one place to another, from one life to another, but continually, you'll never find warnings any more than there are in the book of Hebrews. All the way through the book you are warned time and time and time again. Else we neglect it, else we let it slip, looking unto Him, diligently looking unto Him else the root of bitterness come up in our heart. Time and time and time again you are warned. Why? Because God has said, 'Zion, I have one purpose for you and that is the exaltation of My Son. I have one purpose for you Zion, you are going to set in the midst of the earth, Zion, and you are going to be a sign unto the world of the complete victory of My Son over sin, over death, over hell, over all the powers of the enemy, over flesh, over the world. In you Zion, I will reveal My Son. I will set my king on the head of Mt. Zion. I will exalt my King in my holy mountain. Now look then at Psalms 102 verse 13. I hope you have your Bible with you. You know in Acts 17, Paul and his party went to a place called Berea. And it is said of those folks at Berea that they were more noble than the people at Thessalonica. Why? Because they worked signs and wonders? No - because THEY SEARCHED THE SCRIPTURES TO SEE IF THE THINGS THEY TAUGHT WERE OF GOD. That's the sign of nobility. Psalms 102:13 " Thou shalt arise and have mercy on Zion." Oh, sometimes Zion gets in a pitiful state of affairs. 'Lord, you know I'd like to serve you, but you know, it's so hard.' I used to listen to that all the time. I thought, my word, what are these people getting into? 'Lord, you know I'd like to be faithful to you...' You know, all the things. I just can't do it. Let's just be honest. With most of us it is a supreme task of our spirituality to pray as much as 15 minutes a day. A supreme task of our spirituality to even open the Bible - period - once a day. That's true. And we say, 'Oh Lord, I'm going to pray an hour a day.' That sounds like a monumental task to most of us. Jesus asked his disciples, "could you not tarry with me an hour?" They all went to sleep. Zion comes to this point where within itself that it seems that it just can't do it. God, we've tried to be spiritual. We can't be spiritual. We tried to be faithful, we can't be faithful. We get under a good strong sermon, we get challenged, we make all these decrees, all these dedications and they're gone before we get out the door. And so, instead of Zion being the ensign of the Lord, the pole, the sign of the Lord, in the earth for righteousness, Zion ends up most of the time being a shambles and a shame and a reproach in the earth. That's another whole series - the reproach of Zion. Oh, Lord! You see Zion just can't be passive, folks. Join the Rotary Club - nobody cares. You can be passive. But if you've come to Mt. Zion, there is an EXPECTANCY. God expects something. There is an expectancy even from the world, even though they hate the church and hate God, there is still an expectancy. Because Mt. Zion is the hope of the earth. It is the hope of the world. The whole creation is groaning together for the manifestation of Christ in Mt. Zion. So there's an expectancy, but most of the time Zion, instead of fulfilling that expectancy, is kind of like a water well out in the desert that has a cracked bottom. And somebody sees it and they go to it, and everything in them is just getting to that water well. And their last hope is there. And they get to that well and they look down in it and there's nothing but sand and lizards and snakes. And it would have been a whole lot better if the well hadn't even had been there. See, there's an expectancy concerning Zion. And so we all get under this and we declare 'We're gonna be saints of God, we're gonna be sons of God, we're gonna do this ...' And we get all built up. And then we find nothing in us that is capable of doing it over the long haul. And God understands that. 'THOU SHALT ARISE AND HAVE MERCY UPON ZION FOR THE TIME TO FAVOR HER, YEA THE SET TIME IS COME." God's covenant is with Zion! God shall not forsake Zion. The problem is that during this crisis time of Zion, during this time of shame for Zion, many of us forsake her. Many of us go back, many of us face problems. And instead of staying, we turn around and go back. I'm telling you GOD LOVES ZION! He loves Zion! Ye are come to Zion. And the worse thing you can do is leave Zion because you've made a mistake. The worse thing you can do is quit making commitments to God because you didn't keep your last one. The worse thing you can do is quit praying 'God give me grace' because you fell on your face yesterday. You don't do that. GOD LOVES ZION! And God has an answer for Zion. He has an answer for you. If you knew how long I preached without the answer. If you knew how many people I prayed for and had no idea why I was praying for them. We've seen them slain like cord wood. We've had to use 4 or 5 microphones because the cords got all tangled up. And that's wonderful. But I want to tell you something now folks, I've been in Pentecost before I was able to walk so I can say it. I saw too many of those people get up and walk out just like they were when they went down. Their problems weren't answered; their prayer wasn't answered. Yes - a demonstration of God's power, but their life wasn't changed. They were back the next night in the same prayer line wanting the same thing. But it wasn't just that - it was in my heart. I knew I didn't have the answer. I knew I didn't have the answer for this brother who wept and prayed every revival. I knew I didn't have the answer for the husband and wife who loved God but just couldn't be faithful. I knew I didn't have the answer for the saints of God who had to get another blessing, another filling, another filling - but could never walk consistently, manifesting in all ways, in all places, in everything, the savor of His knowledge. I knew they didn't and I knew I didn't. I got to where I laid it off on the anointing. I said, 'Well, I just do that because the anointing is gone.' That gave me an excuse to my wife why I was one way in church and another way at home. 'Well, I'm not anointed here.' She got to where she wished to God I'd just stay in the church house. Amen. That's where I was anointed - so get there and stay there and we'll all move in with you. You don't know the years I preached not having the answer. I preached the Word of God. I prayed for everybody I could get my hands on. My first son who is 27 years old now, the first toy he got a hold of was a little old microphone, started lining these dolls up, laying hands on them, knocking them down. There's nothing wrong with that. We see that now, Praise God! But I'm telling you the answer is not in it. There's a work of the Spirit that's got to take place in Mt. Zion! It is a bringing forth of the Son of the Living God! It is bringing Him in His nature, in His character, in His fulness, in the very essence of all that He is. Until Mt. Zion literally stands and quakes with His presence - literally stands and shakes in His character. Until Mt. Zion is a manifestation in the earth of Jesus Christ - in His walk, in His relationship, in His fellowship with God the Father. Well, God loves Zion. And he understands the inabilities of that which he has brought together in Zion. But there's an answer. And I thank God, one time in a prayer room in 1963 - November 8 in a prayer room in Dallas, Texas, I found the answer! I found the answer. Thank God. I went in there determined that I'm not coming out until I find the answer. I found the answer - GOD REVEALED HIS SON IN ME! And that revelation has not stopped until this very night! He is still revealing His Son in me! That's God's answer to Zion. "I will establish my king in the top of my mountain." What does that means? I'm going to reveal my Son in you so that you will live in an understanding that you never had before - that it is no longer I, but Christ! Now if that's just a scripture you're quoting, then you need to get into the Word of God until it is the reality of a person in you, not just a scripture written somewhere in the Bible. I'm telling you the purpose of Pentecost is the revelation of Jesus Christ - with all of the magnificent works of Pentecost, with all of the gifts, with all of the outflowing, with all of that. Because all of those things are methods by which the Holy Spirit prepares Mt. Zion for its ultimate experience. And I say experience because of lack of a better term. Because it is an ongoing awakening, an ongoing realization - it is one that shall never end. It is one that shall culminate in His absolute fulness - when He stands in the top of Mt. Zion. And the purpose of the Holy Spirit is just this - TO REVEAL CHRIST IN YOU! Yes, that is so. Verse 14, "For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favor even the dust thereof." Even the dust - the inequities of Zion is even favored of God. Because Mt. Zion is the place where God has chosen to reveal His Son. And it is by and through the revelation of His Son that he shall conform Mt. Zion to the very image of that Son. "So the nations shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory." Look at verse 16, "When the Lord shall build up Zion..."Build up Zion, edify Zion, build her up in faith, fill her up with his knowledge. You find this in Ephesians 4 - the building up of Zion " til we all come in the unity of the faith..." What is that? The knowledge of the Son of God. Unto a perfect man. What is that? The fulness of the stature of Jesus Christ. Then no more babes, then no more children, then no more blown about. But then speaking the truth - AS IT IS IN CHRIST - ministering one to another, edifying the body in love, building up Mt. Zion for the habitation of God. "When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory." Look at verse 21 now. " To declare the name of the Lord in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem when the people are gathered together and the kingdoms to serve the Lord." When the people are what? When the people are gathered together! Do you not understand you are raised up together, you are made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Oh, his purpose in gathering a people together in Christ is that he may declare the name of the Lord in the midst of that people. So that people may declare the name of the Lord, the identity, the manifestation of His Person in the earth. When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory! There's the text. Now we'll deal with the lesson. The purpose of Zion - THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST! So we come to Hebrews. Remember our not? NOT - BUT. Not as Moses, who was a servant, who was of the law, who came to Mt. Sinai which was the place of sight and sound and hearing and touching and tasting, knowing God in an outward way, a natural way. Knowing God, yes, knowing God but in an outward way, a natural way. Knowing God, yes, but by sense knowledge. Yes, knowing God. Moses was not a devil, he was a servant of the Lord. Mt. Sinai was not a place of demons, it was a type of Zion, it was a holy mount unto God, but that's not what we've come to. Not Moses, the servant unto the law at Sinai, but we have come to Christ, the Son, by the Spirit, in Mt. Zion! There's no comparison between Moses and his administration, and Christ and His administration. There's no comparison between Sinai, though it was a type; there's no real comparison between knowing God after a Sinai experience and in knowing God in the top of Mt. Zion by the Spirit of God. This is where we've come. We are come, the scriptures say to the PLACE OF GOD'S SPEAKING. Turn with me now to Hebrews the first chapter. What's the first word? GOD! What was the first word in the Bible? "In the beginning, GOD..." That's very significant, because the writer of the Hebrews is bringing forth a revelation of God that the Old Covenant did not contain. GOD. Who is speaking here? GOD! Notice it doesn't say the devil." God who at sundry times and in diverse manners spoke..." Who spoke? God. Not Satan, not man - God spoke. I don't want you to misunderstand. The old economy was God's economy. It was God's tool. It was set up of God. It was God who spoke to Moses, nobody less than God. It was God who spoke to Abraham, nobody less than God. God spoke to Isaac and Jacob, nobody less than God. God spoke to Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, no one less than God spoke. But he spoke from an outside position. He spake from without. That is the earmark of the old administration. The thing that tears my heart out to the roots is to come to Mt. Zion, anywhere on the face of the earth, and find Mt. Zion under the same administration of its predecessor, Mt. Sinai - still knowing God, but from the outside. There is a better way. There is a more perfect way. You are not a people that are brought forth in Christ so that God can write another letter to you. You are not a people brought forth in Christ so that God can holler down out of heaven to you. You are not a people brought forth in Christ so that God can write on another stone and give it to you. No sir! You are a people brought forth in Christ so that God can write his Word INSIDE OF YOU! Hallelujah! He desires to reveal His Word in you! His Word is a person. His Word is a Living Word. His Word is His Son and he desires to reveal that Son in you. My word folks, if you think the old administration is glorious, wait until you by the Spirit of God step over into the new administration. If you think the words upon the page are glorious, wait until the One of whom all of those testifies is revealed in you - that's much more glorious! The one may instruct you. The other will CHANGE YOUR LIFE! The one may challenge you, the other will become your ability to perform. That's the difference in knowing God from the outside, and having God to reveal His Living Word, His Son in you. A life changing, heart rending realization - in the top of Mt. Zion - God revealing His Son. God establishing His Word - not as law, but as a living reality, a living faith, a living person revealed in you. The revelation of Jesus Christ has to be my reason for searching the scriptures. I mean that with all my heart. I used to search the scriptures to prove all of my view points. I used to search the scriptures so I could get another sermon, another thought. And I suppose that's all there, but now I search the scriptures just to see Him! I just want to see Him. Because the seeing of Him is the only thing that's going to change me into His image. The other may make me theologically correct, but I've seen too many preachers theologically correct, manifesting the spirit of Adam. I've seen too many people who have gotten their doctrine right, but their attitude is sorry, it stinks, it's all wrong. I've seen too many people that can give you sixteen fundamentals of faith but they couldn't live for Jesus victoriously one day. I've seen too many preachers that can preach from Genesis to Revelation, but their life in their home is an abomination to God. In fact, their life in their home would be an abomination to Satan. Is that clear enough and plain enough, or shall I go on? I'm telling you Mt. Zion, God is not interested in writing his Word on you any more. He's not interested in writing it on your gown or on your dress or on your hair or on your face or on your doctrinal book or on your sixteen fundamentals or anywhere else. He wants to reveal HIS LIVING WORD INSIDE OF YOU brother, so that it will change your very heart, change your very soul, and bring you forth in a face-to-face encounter with Him that will literally conform you inwardly to His very image. And if you are conformed inwardly, you will become an outward manifestation of Him - whatever the circumstance, whatever the situation, whatever the trial, whatever the time of day - you will be a savor of His knowledge. And that's what Mt. Zion is set in the earth to do. It is to be the very savor of His knowledge. The very manifestation of His victory! Hallelujah! Now God spoke like that. But over all of that, write 'TIME PAST'. Time past. Time that is no more. Time that is done away. Time that has served its purpose. "...Hath in these last days, hath at the end of those days spoken unto us by HIS SON." The correct rendition reads, "SPOKEN IN SON". That doesn't mean telling us things about His Son. That means revealing the very nature and character of His Son - the very nature and character of the Living Word in you and I. God only has one Word and he's wrapped up all of his thought concerning you and I in that one Word. And when we look Him in the face we see the total thought of God. His total thought concerning righteousness - it's all there. His total thought concerning holiness - it's all there. His total thought concerning Sonship, heaven, faith - it's all there in the One Word. And when he reveals that Word in you and I from glory to glory, spirit unto spirit, line upon line, we begin to see the whole light of the whole knowledge of the whole glory of God in the FACE OF JESUS CHRIST. God hath said nothing but what he hath said it in his one Word - and that Word is the Living Word, the Living Son, the Living Christ, the Word that Peter says ye are born again by that Word. Not of corruptible but of incorruptible seed, by the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever. In another verse it says, "Which word is preached unto you by the gospel." The gospel is the preaching of the One Living Word of God! Mt. Zion, it's not like Moses on top of Sinai writing on a tablet. No sir, here it is God writing in your heart the very revelation of His Eternal Word, of His Living Word. God desires to reveal His Son in Mt. Zion. That's the purpose of Zion. Zion has many functions, many ministries, but only one purpose, only one eternal purpose - THE REVELATION OF CHRIST AND THE MANIFESTATION OF HIS FULNESS. Aren't you glad we're come to Mt. Zion? Aren't you glad we're not brought to Mt. Sinai so we can learn some more letter. Not brought to Mt. Sinai so we can learn some more do's and don'ts, which we couldn't do or don't anyhow. Amen. The doing of it and not doing of it was all right, but it never made anyone righteous, it never made anyone holy. It never brought forth the Son of God - didn't do that. It kept the people unto the coming of the Son of God. And that's what I'm telling you. Sinai has its purpose. God spoke. The Law has its purpose, the old administration has its purpose. But, if you are in Christ, you are come to Mt. Zion, and now God desires to raise His purpose another level higher. He desires to now bring you into the Holiest of Holies. He desires now to write his own Word. God set about writing his own Word in you - God revealing His Son in you. Paul testifies that 'God revealed His Son in me', and every letter that he gives comes out from that revelation of Christ - you read it. It comes out from that revelation of Christ - God revealing His Son in Paul. So what is Mt. Zion? IT IS THE PLACE OF GOD SPEAKING. But how does he speak? Thundering as out of heaven? No sir. HE SPEAKS HIS PERFECT WORD, BY REVEALING HIS PERFECT WORD, HIS LIVING WORD IN YOU. Folks, God can never bring you into a relationship with a doctrine. How are you going to relate to a doctrine? He wants to bring you into a relationship with His Son. He wants to bring you into a relationship with His Living Word, in whom all true doctrine is fulfilled anyway. But he wants to bring you into a relationship with His Living Word - that your heart fall in love with the Person of the Word. That you don't have to be put on a bible program for Bible reading to get you into the scripture, but you go to the scripture every day and every night, and all through the day. Why? Because you want to look face-to-face with Jesus! Your heart is in love with the Living Word of God and you know He has said "Search the scriptures, for they are they that testify of me." And the midnight hour will find you waiting in the scripture, not looking for another special promise. No sir, looking for the Living Word of God in whom all the promises of God are yea and Amen. It will find you in the midnight hour in the Word of God searching the scripture - not looking for another sermon, minister; not looking for another lesson, teacher. No sir, but looking into the very depth of the Son of God. Desiring to know Him, desiring to see Him because your heart is having a love affair with JESUS. And God is speaking to you. God is speaking to you and showing you his glory. God is speaking to you in the top of his mountain. God is revealing His Son in you - something that only the Father can do and he's doing it. And that's your motivation for living in the scripture, and nobody will have to tell you to do it fifteen minutes a day. When you see Jesus then they'll be trying to pry you out of it! I mean it - they'll take your drivers license away from you because you've got your Bible propped up on the steering wheel in rush hour traffic. I know what I'm talking about. You're having a love affair! You finally found the purpose of Mt. Zion - God revealing His Son in you, until you be filled with the light of the knowledge of the glory of God. Yes sir, I'm telling you Zion is the place of God's speaking. It's where God speaks in you HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN WORD and in Him you begin to know the fulness of God. I couldn't describe it to you even if I went two more hours. But I'm telling you, Mt. Zion, it is there for you. It is there. It is God's destiny for you. It's God's plan for you. It's God's purpose for you - not that you know him after a Sinai mentality, but that you allow him to reveal His Son in you. Now folks, you can sing, 'Oh, how I love Jesus' all you want to, but I'm asking you, has God revealed HIM IN YOU? You can tell me all about your salvation all you want to, but I'm asking you has God revealed the PERSON OF IT IN YOU? Are you in a love affair with HIM - now? Is every waking moment filled with the Eternal Thought of God, the Word of God, the REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST? Is He the reason you get up every morning? Is He the reason you go to bed every night? I'm asking you folks, we're all claiming to be saved, now. You're claiming to have come to Mt. Zion. Now I'm telling you Mt. Zion is the place where God is speaking through the revelation of His Son. Now I'm asking you, has God revealed His Son in you? You say you don't know. If you don't know, he hasn't. Because that's where we get into the irrefutable part and then on into the irresistible part. When God reveals His Son in you, you know it, because there is no other like HIM! There's only one True Word of God and every scripture testifies of Him. I'm not telling you that your Bible is not the Word of God. I'm telling you that your Bible is the Word of God and it's given to you that you may search the scriptures so that God may reveal His One Word in you. And you're not going to see Christ listening to one of my tapes or reading one of my books or anything else. The best they can do is get you to search the scriptures, the Holy Spirit desiring to reveal the very Word in you. And I'm asking you, Mt. Zion, as lovingly as I can, with a burden that I can't explain to you - has God revealed His Son in you? If not, you may have come to Mt. Zion, but you haven't found the purpose for being there yet. And beloved, without finding the purpose, I'm telling you by experience, you won't stay there long. You won't stay there, and if you do you will become a reproach in the earth and God will remove you. Now folks, we're coming down to that. You're brought to Mt. Zion that God may commune with you face-to-face. That God may reveal His Holy Word in you. And that you may be changed into His image. Zion is the place of God's speaking. May He speak to our hearts now. I'm talking to Zion. I'm not talking to sinners. I'm talking to you from my heart. God has a controversy with Zion, an issue with Zion. I'm not doubting your salvation. I'm not doubting whether you've come to Zion or not; if you've come to Christ you have come to Mt. Zion. But I'm going to ask you this question again. Paul was able to say, "It pleased God who separated me from my mother's womb and called my by his grace..." You see he had no doubts about his salvation. He had no doubts about the purpose of his natural birth even. He said, here's the reason, "...TO REVEAL HIS SON IN ME." I'm asking you, you who have come to Zion, you who have come to the place of God's speaking, have you heard his voice? Has he revealed His Son in you - to the taking away of the first and establishing the second? Has he revealed His Son in you to bring about the always, and in all places, being a savor of the knowledge of His life? Has God revealed His Son in you, Mt. Zion? This is not just an issue with you. It's an issue with all the creation. Mt. Zion, the whole world waits for you to see Jesus. The whole world waits for you to grow up into His image. Mt. Zion, the whole world is waiting for you to manifest Christ. The whole world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God - not the bickering babes. And I'm asking you Mt. Zion - you say you've been saved twenty years - I don't care if you've been saved fifty years - I'm asking you, Mt. Zion, has God revealed His Son in you? You say, I speak in tongues - I speak in tongues too. I'm not asking you that. I'm asking you, has God revealed His Son in you in this way? That only the Spirit of God can do? In this way, that eye can not see and ear cannot hear, I'm asking you, has God revealed His Living Word in you? That's the question. That's as far as the Lord will allow this lesson to go until someone begins to answer in their hearts - has God revealed His Son in you? ZION, THIS IS YOUR PURPOSE. AND HAS THAT TAKEN PLACE IN YOU? I want you to consider this. If you're honest enough to say I need Christ to be revealed in me. I have come to Mt. Zion, and so much more the pressure because here I must hear the voice of God. Here I must, I must - if I neglect so great salvation. I am come to Mt. Zion that God may enthrone His Son as King; that God may reveal His Living Word in me; that God may bring me to the irrefutable, irresistible revelation of Jesus Christ by the which I understand that IT IS NO LONGER I, BUT CHRIST! Not just saying it, but understanding it in a life changing way. I want to have Christ revealed in me. I want to have the Son revealed in me. I want to know Him in a way that I've never known Him before. Oh, that I may know Him! I want the Holy Ghost - he's done so much for me - he's saved me, he's baptized me, he's delivered me, he's brought me to the mount, now I want him to reveal the Eternal Son in me. And I want that revelation to never cease. I want it to begin and I want it to fill up my heart until I stand in the top of Mt. Zion filled with the knowledge of the glory of God - filled with the knowledge of the Lord. Until I stand in Mt. Zion, a manifestation of nothing less and nothing other than the very person of the Lord Jesus Christ. LET US PRAY, and will you make it more than a prayer. Let us make it a determining factor. I am going to search the Word. I am going to stay there until Zion is a reality. I am going to stay there until God reveals His Son in Me. Father, in the name of Jesus, will you move upon the mount like you moved upon the Mount of Transfiguration. Will you cover us with the mantle of the Holy Ghost that when that mantle lifts, there is nothing left standing but Jesus. Will you overshadow our hearts that in our hearts there is nothing left but the knowledge of Christ. My Father, reveal Thy Son in me. Open the eyes of my understanding - reveal your Son in me. I WANT TO KNOW CHRIST! Fill me with the knowledge of Thy Son! Write Him in my heart. Open my eyes. Enthrone Him in my heart. Let Thy Word be quickened. Let Thy Living Word be revealed, Father - REVEAL THY SON IN ME! Thank you for it. Amen.
